Dr. Rothman's and Dr. Traubman's Background


Dr. David L. Rothman earned his B.A. cum laude from the State University of New York, Buffalo, then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the New York University College of Dentistry. After an Anesthesiology Residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, he completed his Pediatric specialty training with Children's Hospital, Oakland, and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Rothman was Chair of Pediatric Dentistry at University of the Pacific (UOP) School of Dentistry until 1998, when he devoted his full attention to his private practice of dentistry for children in San Francisco. He was president of the California Society of Dentistry for Children, and is asked to lecture to dentists and physicians, nationally and internationally.

Dr. Rothman has published articles in the Journal of Dentistry for Children and the Journal of the American Dental Association. He is a staff member of California Pacific Medical Center and the East Bay Children's Hospital. He is a consultant to the craniofacial team for Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Oakland.

In August, 2000, Dr. Rothman assumed the responsibility from Dr. Lionel Traubman for his private practice of Dentistry for Infants and Children which, for over 30 years, had been based above all on personal relationships, with excellence and affection as guiding principles.

Dr. Lionel Traubman attended the University of California, Berkeley, then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree at the University of California School of Dentistry, San Francisco. He completed his Pediatric specialty training and clinical research at Indiana University, earning his Master of Science in Dentistry (M.S.D.), with a double minor - Oral Pathology and Education. He was a two-term Director of the S.F. Dental Society, and Lecturer in Pediatric Dentistry at U.C. School of Dentistry for 15 years. Dr. Traubman was Editor of the California Society of Dentistry for Children and of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Traubman was a contributing author in dental journals and textbooks, and was the 1998 Distinguised Alumnus of the University of California School of Dentistry. In August, 2000, Dr. Traubman retired from practice after treating girls and boys since the early 1960s.
