NEW FILM:  20 Years of Palestinian-Jewish

Living Room Dialogue  (1992-2012)

05 December 2012

"There" are two stories here and there is a quality of transcendence - seeing

beyond the 'Jewish Narrative' or the 'Palestinian Narrative' - to a perspective that can

humanize both sides and hear the 'other' story. A transcender after all has

abandoned the exclusive quality of his or her narrative of origin."

~ Andrea Kiener, Hartford, CT (1997)

"Out beyond ideas of rightdoing and wrongdoing, there is a field.

I'll meet you there."

        ~ Jelaluddin Rumi (1207-1273)

These December 2012 days and nights of light, please let each of us re-dedicate to illuminating paths toward our shared future.
The paths that lead to Rumi's place.
On an Earth with one side.
Where we are all on the same side.

So find your supposed "enemy" and sit together.
     Who listens best, wins.
Not for self only, but for the Relationship -- what matters, sustains, builds.

And you're not at all alone.
     Know that, and reach out.

                         ~ L&L

TWO SIDES
in music

Etta James (1938-2012) since 1954 was a powerhouse American vocalist of blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, soul, gospel, and jazz.
She won six Grammys and 17 Blues Music Awards, and in 1993 was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Etta James was one of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.

In the late 1980s, recovering from personal problems, Etta made a heroic musical resurgence.
In 1984, James had responded "yes" to Beyond War -- forerunner of the Jewish-Palestinian Living Room Dialogue.
She sang across space and over walls to the "enemy" Soviet people, as part of the first-ever San Francisco-Moscow television satellite spacebridge.
That historic Beyond War Award Ceremony is on video at http://traubman.igc.org/bwaward.htm

Earlier, in 1963, the great Etta James had already sung home to us the "two sides" principle of life and human relationships at home and around Earth.
